Welcome to our new home!

New online space. New-ish look. Same great articles and contributors.

While The Augurly isn’t new — it has a new place to call home here on Substack.

After publishing 30 issues of our e-zine, we envisioned a new (and easier, more accessible) way to write our article and reach new readers. Hence, our new Substack!

Backstory

Early 2021: I (Jade) was feeling drawn to starting a project that could combine several of my obsessions — words and spirituality. I loved the idea of using an e-zine as a container for the project. After speaking with one of my besties, Allison Prell, we had devised a collaborative project that was lovingly named The Augurly.

Current + Future

The Augurly was previously published as “issues” at the first of every month which worked great for e-zine purposes. Now that we’ve switched over to Substack, we have the freedom to publish as much and as often as we like! So while there’s no set schedule at the moment, we won’t rule anything out!

Contributor Submissions

One of our favorite aspects of The Augurly was publishing pieces from contributors. While we cannot afford to pay for submissions, we very much would love to publish pieces by any creative who wants a publication to call “home.” You can see our contributor submission guidelines:

Free vs. Paid

One of the biggest challenges that Allie and I faced with publishing The Augurly as an e-zine was the time and energy it took to put it together. Beyond providing the articles, all other aspects were done in-house including formatting, uploading, sending it out, etc. We always wanted The Augurly to be a free resource to creatives, especially in the world where so many resources are paywalled — and switching to Substack doesn’t change that. However, with Substack’s ability to accept payments, we have decided to enable paid subscriptions for any of our readers who would like to help support us in continuing the publication. It’s a lot of work to put this all together and it’s been a labor of love, but we wouldn’t mind getting financial support for all our work, either.

So while the articles we publish will always be free, if you’re so inclined, we would love it if you have the means to financially support us:
